OVERVIEW

This project explored the visual language and philosophy of the Bauhaus movement through a contemporary editorial publication. The goal was to create a visually engaging piece that communicated the history, principles, and influence of Bauhaus design while staying faithful to its minimalist and functional aesthetic. Inspired by the movement’s use of geometry, grid systems, and experimental typography, the publication balances structure with visual expression.

THE PROBLEM

The challenge was to transform historical and educational content into an editorial experience that felt modern, dynamic, and visually compelling. The project needed to present complex information in a clear and accessible way while maintaining a strong artistic identity rooted in Bauhaus principles. Achieving a balance between readability and experimentation was central to the design process.

DESIGN PROCESS

The design approach focused on typography, composition, and hierarchy. A strict grid system was developed to create consistency throughout the layouts, while bold contrasts, geometric forms, and asymmetrical compositions were used to reflect the essence of Bauhaus design. Careful attention was given to spacing, alignment, and rhythm to guide the reader through the publication naturally.
The visual direction was influenced by classic Bauhaus posters and editorial pieces, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens. Color, scale, and negative space were used strategically to create visual impact without overwhelming the content. 

OUTCOME

The final outcome is a modern editorial publication that captures the timeless aesthetic of the Bauhaus movement while presenting historical content in a fresh and engaging way. The project demonstrates strong skills in editorial design, typography, layout systems, and visual storytelling. Through a clean yet expressive visual language, the publication successfully translates Bauhaus principles into a contemporary design experience.
